Explore Carbon Offsets

So what is a carbon offset, exactly?

A carbon offset is a certification that one metric ton of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) has been reduced from the atmosphere, to compensate for an emission made elsewhere. Offsets are created by clean-tech or sustainability projects whose programs, whether they address creation of alternative energy forms, waste capture and recycling, or sustainable agriculture, have verified emissions reduction components.
Example: A project installs solar panels on the roofs of remote subsistence farms in the desert, which previously ran on GHG emitting. diesel-powered generators. As sunlight is in extreme abundance, households with solar panels don’t need to use their generators, which not only saves them money, but also contributes to a significant reduction of their emissions. Third parties review and calculate the amount of carbon dioxide emissions eliminated with each solar panel installation, as they are not longer using diesel-powered generators, and for each ton measured, an equivalent amount of offset credits are created.

Why Can't I Just buy a hybrid?

You should take whatever actions you can to reduce your own emissions - buy a fuel efficient car, install solar panels, eat local produce, and cut back on flying. These activities are important and certainly help reduce your footprint. However, in today’s world, it is impossible to live carbon neutral without supporting offset projects.
The most effective way to combat climate change is to reduce your own emissions as much as possible with behavioral changes and offsetting what remains with carbon offset credits.

Our Vision

Almost three years ago, two friends realized they shared a mutual passion for sustainable living—and a mutual desire to act on it.
In the past, both of us had turned to carbon offset services to mitigate the impact of our lifestyles on the environment, but we experienced the same problem: the current offsetting services just weren’t very user friendly. They were onerous, time-consuming, and we felt they were an obstacle in bringing new people to a carbon neutral life.
nick_jeff_kodachromed.jpg Determined to do something, we decided to create an offset service that would be easy to use and, through a portfolio of high-quality carbon offset projects, would yield the greatest benefit from our members' contribution to the planet's health. We knew that many care deeply about the environment--but are so pressed for time. So we made the offset process efficient and enjoyable enough for even the busy executive or on-the-go entrepreneur.
We equipped Belgrave Trust with a calculator that can handle a huge number of variables, and allows for serious fine tuning, yet can help you get from start to membership in just a few short steps.
After careful research, we compiled a portfolio of carbon offsets drawn from the most stringently verified sources. We worked to ensure projects were not just sustainable, but innovative, and provided surrounding communities with benefits such as job creation and education wherever possible.
We started with a dream of creating a service that could spur creation of clean technology, help reverse course and reduce climate change, and create a healthier planet.
We hope you'll join us.

The genesis of this line was in a simple idea: match environmentally responsible methods with an artist's eye for design -- aiming to inspire a wider conversation about sustainable living.

As a gallery show might evoke a discussion... that goes beyond the canvas.

Limited edition products are designed and built by New York area artisans, often from repurposed materials and locally sourced. Each product purchase includes support for offset projects that make a portion of the office carbon neutral.

Evocative design can not only impress, it can redefine and reinvent, and we aim to apply this thinking to help fight climate change.

What actions can we take that will influence others? We help people offset their carbon footprint and support great projects -- but how can we let them show friends that green can be interesting, even stylish? How can we help you not just explain, but inspire. To spark discussion and change old ways of thinking?
Our very first entry is this limited edition collection of essentials for your office and home, that pair carbon neutrality with sustainable design, and a artisan level quality that's hard to find. It's likely to sell out quickly... take a look and act now.
